Arsenal will bid to reach the Champions League semi-finals when they face German side Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners were held to a 2-2 draw by the Bundesliga side in the first leg of their quarter-final tie, before their Premier League title charge was dealt a huge blow as they fell to a 2-0 loss against Aston Villa.

The defeat against the Villans means that the Gunners now sit two points behind leaders Manchester City, and manager Mikel Arteta will therefore be even more desperate to progress into the last four of the Champions League.

In the meantime, it appears that Arsenal remain interested in a Brazilian midfielder.

As per Football Insider, the North London club are likely to revisit a move for Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz.

Arsenal are said to have had several offers for the central midfielder rejected in recent windows, but the report claims that they will once again make a move to sign him this summer.

Luis could leave Villa Park this summer

Luiz, 25, joined Villa from Manchester City in 2019 and has since made 197 appearances for the Villans across all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 24 assists.

Arsenal are set to be in the market for a new central midfielder this summer, despite signing Declan Rice from West Ham United last year.

Mohamed Elneny, who has played just six times this season, is set to depart The Emirates in the coming months, and both Jorginho and Thomas Partey also face uncertain futures at the club.

With that in mind, those in charge of the Gunners’ recruitment are reportedly looking at a move for Luiz, who is out of contract at Villa Park in 2026.

Spanish side Barcelona are also said to be interested in the Brazil international, who has been capped 12 times by his country at senior level.
