Arsenal have ground to make up in the Premier League title race after a disappointing run of results in recent weeks.

Mikel Arteta’s side have finished second in each of the past two seasons, and the Spaniard will be desperate to ensure his side go one better this time around.

After a relatively strong start, though, the Gunners now find themselves nine points behind leaders Liverpool after picking up just two points from their last four league games.

Arteta could look to strengthen his squad in January in a bid to improve their title chances, and with that in mind it appears that the Gunners are eyeing a move for an Eredivisie star.

As per CaughtOffside, Arsenal are one of a number of Premier League clubs showing interest in Ajax midfielder Kenneth Taylor.

The report suggests that both Arsenal and Newcastle United have been regularly scouting the 22-year-old, who has impressed for the Dutch giants this year.

Taylor has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs

Taylor, 22, is a product of the fruitful Ajax youth academy and has now played more than 130 times for the Amsterdam club at senior level.

As well as the Gunners and the Magpies, the report claims that Aston Villa and Italian side Napoli are also monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

Taylor has played in all 12 of his side’s Eredivisie matches so far this season, and Ajax are therefore unlikely to want to sell the player.

Despite this,  the report suggests that a bid of around £30 million could be enough to persuade the Dutch giants to sell the player, who is under contract until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Arsenal’s interest in Taylor comes despite the London side signing Mikel Merino during the most recent transfer window, although the Spaniard has since struggled with injuries and form.
