Arsenal return to Champions League action when they host Greek side Olympiakos on Wednesday.

Mikel Arteta’s side came from behind to secure a dramatic 2-1 win over Newcastle United in their last outing, with goals from Mikel Merino and Gabriel earning the Gunners an important victory in the Premier League title race.

That win cut leaders Liverpool’s advantage at the top to just two points, and Arteta will want to see his side build on that result when they face Olympiakos.

Arsenal defeated Spanish side Athletic Club 2-0 in their first match of the Champions League group phase, and victory on Wednesday will move them a step closer to qualification for the knockout stage.

In the build up to the match on Wednesday, it has emerged that Arsenal could be in line for a relatively understated transfer window in January.

According to Dean Jones via TEAMtalk, the North London side are set to be quiet during the upcoming mid-season transfer window.

The report claims that the Gunners aren’t likely to be particularly active in the market, following a summer of significant spending.

Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze were among those to arrive at The Emirates during the recent window, with the London side spending more than £250 million.

It is claimed that the Londong giants are unlikely to need to strengthen in any particular positions after a busy summer window.

Unless any important first team player suffers an injury, it is suggested that Arsenal are not likely to make any major new signings during the January window, as that period is typically used by clubs looking to address major issues.
