Arsenal will finalise a deal to send yougster Chuba Akpom out on loan to Championship leaders Brighton before Tuesday’s deadline, according to reports from The Mirror.

The 21-year-old has made just the one appearance for Arsene Wenger’s side this season and Seagulls boss Chris Hughton, is looking to solidify their promotion push ahead of the run in.

The England U21 international, who spent last season on loan with Hull City as they secured a return to the Premier League, has three Championship goals to his name, in 42 appearances.

As well as his time in the second tier with Steve Bruce’s Hull, the striker also had a spell with Nottingham Forset, making just seven appearances in all competitions.

The youngster is unlikely to make it into the first team ahead of top scorer Glenn Murray, however, will give former Newcastle manager Hughton another option as he looks to pip his old employers to top spot in the Championship.
