Arsenal shift transfer stance from Thomas Partey to Houssem Aouar as Lucas Torreira moves closer to Atletico Madrid switch, according to the Daily Star

Manger Mikel Arteta is very keen to strengthen his midfield ahead of the transfer window deadline on Monday night.

The Gunners have many options in the midfield but many of those are young, inexperienced players who have not played many competitive games in the middle of the park.

Adding to this, it’s likely the midfield enforcer Torreira leaving for La Liga club Ateltico, Arteta has all the more reason to make a move for a midfield man.

transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano said: “They want Aouar more than Thomas Partey at the moment. Thomas Partey has the release clause of €50million, and Atletico board are convinced the player will stay.

“They do not think Arsenal will come back for the player, they think Thomas wants to stay.

“It’s a different situation, also, because Lyon will not be playing Champions League football next season.

“In Ligue 1 you have PSG ready to fight to win the title, in La Liga they have a different situation because they will be playing Champions League football.”
