Arsenal have completed the signing of winger Raheem Sterling on a season-long loan from London rivals Chelsea in one of this summer’s biggest deals.

The Gunners announced early on Saturday morning that they had finalised a move for the Englishman, who had been deemed surplus to requirements by Blues boss Enzo Maresca.

Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, shortly after Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took charge of the West London giants.

He was one of the new ownership’s first marquee signings, but his time at Stamford Bridge hasn’t gone to plan.

In total the Englishman has played 81 times for Chelsea across all competitions, scoring 19 goals and providing 12 assists, but he is yet to feature for the club so far this term.

Sterling is set to join a fourth Premier League club after spells with Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool

During his time at The Etihad, Sterling scored a remarkable 131 times in 339 games for the Citizens during an extremely successful period in the club’s history.

Sterling lifted no fewer than 12 trophies during his time in Manchester, including four Premier League titles and five Carabao Cups.

The former Liverpool man has now played more than 375 times in the English top flight, as well as 82 times in the Champions League.

The winger has fallen out of favour in the England setup over the past two years, with his last appearance for the Three Lions coming during England’s quarter-final defeat against France at the 2022 World Cup.

His current contract with the Blues is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but he will now spend at least the remainder of the current season on loan at Arsenal.
