Arsenal begin their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Premier League rivals Bournemouth next week.

Mikel Arteta’s side have finished as runners-up in each of the past two Premier League campaigns, and the Spaniard will be intent on seeing his side go one better this time around.

During their pre-season tour of the US, the Gunners will face the Cherries, as well as Manchester United, Liverpool, and German champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Now, it appears that one player is set to join Arteta’s squad for the tour of America, despite being likely to leave the club this summer.

As per Football Insider, striker Eddie Nketiah is set to join Arsenal in the US for pre-season, although he is still likely to be sold before the end of the current transfer window.

The one-time England international is deemed surplus to requirements by Arteta, the report says, and he is therefore likely to leave in the coming weeks.

Nketiah is likely to leave Arsenal this summer

London rivals West Ham United and Crystal Palace are said to have shown interest in the forward, although Arsenal will demand a fee in excess of £30 million to sell the player.

Everton have also been linked with a move for Nketiah, if current Toffees striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin departs Goodison Park this summer.

Nketiah’s current contract isn’t set to expire until 2027, but the report claims that Arsenal are hoping to sell the player in order to raise funds for new signings, in a bid to challenge Man City for the Premier League title next term.

The Englishman is a product of Arsenal’s youth academy and has played more than 160 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 38 goals and registering seven assists.
