Arsenal could extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they travel to face Luton Town on Tuesday evening.

Mikel Arteta’s side currently sit two points clear of second-placed Liverpool in the top flight standings, and victory over the Hatters would extend their advantage.

Last season the Gunners topped the table for several months before eventually being beaten to the title by Manchester City, and Arteta will therefore be keen to go one better this time around.

Ahead of the visit to Kenilworth Road, one of Arsenal’s most important players is reportedly close to signing a new contract.

As per Football Insider, defender Ben White is close to signing a contract extension with the club.

The centre-back joined the Gunners from Brighton and Hove Albion back in 2021, for a fee of around £50 million.

White is set to sign a contract extension with Arsenal imminently

He has played a crucial role for Arteta’s side ever since, often being deployed as a makeshift right-back, with Gabriel and William Saliba preferred in the centre of defence.

The Englishman has made a total of 104 appearances for the North London outfit across all competitions, and he will soon commit his long-term future to the club.

It is claimed that the 26-year-old is set to put pen to paper on an extension, with the deal said to be ‘all but done’.

An announcement is expected in the very near future, with White set for a pay rise on his current deal, which is set to expire in the summer of 2026.

He will reportedly join the top bracket of earners at the London club, reiterating his importance to Arteta’s side.

White will become the latest in a string of key players to sign new contracts with Arsenal, following in the footsteps of Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli – all of whom have done so over the past 12 months.
