The England squad will meet up on Wednesday for a training camp ahead of friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Iceland.

Gareth Southgate named a 33-man preliminary squad for the upcoming European Championships last week, and the former England player will have to drop seven players after the upcoming friendlies.

While some players are certain to be in the squad, others are fighting to prove their worth to Southgate and will hope to be given a chance to impress during the upcoming games.

Southgate has selected four goalkeepers in his initial squad, with James Trafford expected to be the one that missed out on the final 26-man squad for Euro 2024.

One of the other ‘keepers included, Aaron Ramsdale, is set to travel to Germany despite rarely playing for Arsenal this season.

Now, it has emerged that the Englishman is reluctant to join a Premier League rival.

Ramsdale is set to go to Euro 2024 despite falling out of favour at Arsenal

As per Football Insider, Ramsdale is unlikely to join Newcastle United this summer as he doesn’t want to act as back-up for Nick Pope.

The Magpies have been heavily linked with a move for the out-of-favour ‘keeper, but the report claims that the North East club view Pope as their number one.

Ramsdale, who has fallen behind David Raya in the pecking order at The Emirates, is keen to secure regular first team football and wouldn’t therefore be willing to agree to a move that would see him remain back-up.

The 26-year-old joined the Gunners from Bournemouth, where he worked with Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, back in 2021 and has since played 89 times for the North London club.

He featured just 11 times this season, though, following the arrival of Raya on an initial loan deal from Brentford.
