Arsenal will be relying on London rivals Chelsea to keep their Premier League title hopes alive by beating Manchester City on Sunday.

The Gunners, who had topped the table for much of the campaign, now find themselves in second place after a disappointing run of results.

Mikel Arteta’s side have won just two of their last seven games in the league, dropping points against the likes of Southampton and West Ham United in that time.

The reigning champions therefore need just one win from their final three games to secure a third consecutive title, while the Gunners will have to settle for a place in the Champions League next season.

It appears that the north London outfit could soon be dealt some good news, though, as one of their most important players is reportedly in talks over a new contract.

As per 90min, midfielder Martin Odegaard is set for talks with the club over an extension to his current contract.

The Norway international’s current deal is set to run until 2025, but Arsenal are reportedly keen to tie him down to a longer deal following a superb individual campaign.

Odegaard has been one of Arsenal’s most impressive players so far this season

So far this term, the 24-year-old has scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 35 Premier League matches.

The Norwegian joined Arsenal from Spanish giants Real Madrid, initially on loan, in January 2021 and made his move permanent six months later.

He has since become an integral part of Arteta’s side, and was named club captain at the start of the current season.

In total, the midfielder has scored 24 goals and provided 15 assists in 103 matches for the club across all competitions.

Odegaard’s representatives are reportedly keen to sit down and discuss a contract extension with Arsenal, with the player set to be rewarded with a significant pay rise if an agreement can be reached.

Next term the Gunners will compete in the Champions League for the first time in seven years, and Arteta will therefore likely be looking to bolster his squad during the upcoming summer transfer window.
