Arsenal head into the international break boasting an eight-point lead over reigning champions Manchester City.

The Gunners, who have now played a game more than their rivals, extended their advantage at the top with victory over Crystal Palace at The Emirates on Sunday.

A brace from Bukayo Saka as well as goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Granit Xhaka earned the hosts a 4-1 victory.

Now, the north London club are reportedly set to offer one of their most important players a new long-term deal.

As per Football Transfers, midfielder Martin Odegaard is set to be rewarded with a new deal following what has been a remarkable campaign so far.

The report claims that Arsenal will aim to reach an agreement over a new contract that will run until 2030, with the Norway international’s current deal set to expire in 2025.

It is also claimed that the club are currently working on new deals for both Granit Xhaka and William Saliba, but they will then sit down with Odegaard’s representatives to discuss an extension.

The 24-year-old midfielder initially joined Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid in January 2021, before making his move a permanent one six months later.

Since arriving in London, the Norwegian has impressed and his form has been crucial to helping propel The Gunners to the summit of the Premier League table.

The midfielder, who was named club captain at the start of this season, has made 95 appearances for Arsenal.

This term, he has scored ten goals and provided seven assists in 35 matches across all competitions, including crucial goals against both Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.

Odegaard’s new deal is likely to see him earn improved terms as a reward for his scintillating form this season.

The midfielder is currently on international duty with Norway ahead of their crucial Euro 2024 qualifiers against Spain and Georgia in the coming days.
