With domestic leagues across Europe coming to a close, attention is turning to this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

The 32-team tournament will take place in the Unites States this summer, with Chelsea and Manchester City the only English sides involved.

Clubs from across the globe will compete in the competition, with the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami all also taking part.

Now, it has emerged that a current Arsenal player will be playing in the tournament.

According to Fabrizio Romano, midfielder Jorginho has been given the green light to play for Brazilian side Flamengo at the Club World Cup this summer.

The 33-year-old’s current contract with the Gunners is set to expire at the end of June, but Romano claims that it has been agreed that he will be able to depart The Emirates prior to that date and play for Flamengo in the USA.

Jorginho joined Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea back in 2023, having played more than 200 times for the Blues across all competitions.

He has since largely played a bit-part role for Mikel Arteta’s side, featuring 79 times for the North London outfit.

This season the midfielder played 27 times for the Gunners, scoring his only goal of the campaign in a 2-1 win over Spanish side Girona in the Champions League.

Romano claims that the Italy international’s time in the capital is almost over, though, with the journalist claiming that a deal to take him to Flamengo has already been sealed.
