Arsenal could extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to eight points with a win over Brentford on Saturday.

The Gunners currently sit five points clear of reigning champions Manchester City, who don’t play until Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been in sensational form this season and amassed their club record points tally after 19 games of the season, although they suffered just their second defeat of the campaign when they were beaten 1-0 by Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal were left frustrated in front of goal at Goodison Park, with the likes of Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka unable to find the back of the net despite their impressive recent scoring records.

Despite the duo’s fine form, the highest scoring Arsenal player so far this season is actually playing in France.

Folarin Balogun has scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 this term, but new reports suggest that the striker could be sold this summer.

According to The Sun, Arsenal could consider cashing in on the 21-year-old, who has been in sensational form for Stade de Reims so far this season.

Arsenal are unsure what to do with Balogun

Balogun scored a late equaliser against Paris Saint-Germain a fortnight ago, before netting a hat-trick against Lorient to take his tally for the Ligue 1 campaign to 14.

The England youth international leads the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi in the goal scoring charts in the French top flight, but Arsenal face a dilemma surrounding his future.

The report suggests that Balogun may be ket as part of the Arsenal squad for the first half of next season, with a review of his situation potentially scheduled for next January.

If the striker is struggling for game time, he may then be loaned out once again.

The player’s value will decrease as he nears the expiry of his contract though, meaning Arsenal could even consider cashing in on the player this summer off the back of what has already been a remarkable season.

Reims manager, Englishman Will Still, is alleged to have enquired about signing Balogun permanently last month, but his request was rejected by the London side.

The striker has scored twice in ten senior appearances for Arsenal.
