Arsenal target Julian Draxler has reportedly told his club Wolfsburg that he wants to leave the club this summer, according to Bild, via Sky Sports.

The Germany international has previously been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners, and has told the Bundesliga outfit of his intention to move on to pastures new, which is likely to catch the attention of boss Arsene Wenger, who is a long-term admirer  of the 22-year-old.

Draxler told Bild: “The situation with me is that I made it clear to [Wolfsburg Head Coach] Dieter Hecking after we were knocked out of Euro 2016 in the semi-final that I would like to leave Wolfsburg.”

Wenger has been searching for a new forward all summer but has so far failed with moves with Leicester City duo Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, with the only arrivals at the Emirates being forward Takuma Asano, midfielder Granit Xhaka and centre-back Rob Holding.
