Arsenal target Thomas Lemar has reportedly set his sights on a future move to Manchester United, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Premier League side, who currently sit top of the table after comfortably defeating West Ham United and Swansea City 4-0 apiece in their opening two top-flight fixtures, have been handed a boost in the race to sign the highly-rated AS Monaco winger, although any deal is unlikely before next Thursday’s transfer window deadline (August 31).

The 21-year-old, who has five international caps for his country, has provided one assist in four appearances in all competitions for the defending Ligue 1 champions so far this season.

Lemar, who left French rivals Caen back in 2015, netted 14 times and provided 17 assists in 55 games in all competitions for league champions Monaco last term.

Despite being a Gunners transfer target all summer long, though boss Arsene Wenger has now admitted defeat in luring the wideman to the Emirates Stadium before next Thursday, the player is in fact understood to be eyeing a future move to Old Trafford, as he wishes to follow in the foot steps of forward Anthony Martial.

The Red Devils splashed out an initial £36m to land ex-Monaco starlet Martial back in September 2015, though the deal could be worth up to £58m with add-ons.

Lemar has scored 19 goals in 93 games overall for Monaco.
