Arsenal laid down a marker for their Premier League title rivals with a thumping 5-0 win over Chelsea on Tuesday.

Leandro Trossard put the Gunners ahead early on, before second-half braces from both Ben White and former Blues man Kai Havertz completed the rout.

The win leaves Mikel Arteta’s side three points clear at the top, while Chelsea remain in ninth and battling to qualify for European competition next term.

Despite Arsenal mounting a second successive title challenge, it appears that the club are prepared to let one of their most experienced players leave this summer.

As reported by Football Insider, the North London outfit could accept an offer in the region of £25 million for midfielder Thomas Partey.

Partey looks likely to leave Arsenal this summer

The Ghana international joined Arsenal from Spanish side Atletico Madrid in 2020 and played a key role for the club during each of his first three seasons in London, including last term as Arteta’s side finished as runners-up in the Premier League.

This season, though, the 30-year-old has been hampered by injuries, limiting him to just ten league appearances.

The arrivals of both Jorginho and Declan Rice last term have also provided competition for Partey’s place, although he did line up alongside the Englishman against Chelsea on Tuesday.

Partey’s current contract is set to expire next summer, and Arsenal could therefore look to offload him this year, as he could sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign side in January.

Arsenal are said to have set Partey’s asking price at around £20-25 million, and he is likely to have interest from other clubs.

If they do offload Partey, Arsenal will then look to sign a replacement midfielder, and Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz remains of interest to the North London outfit.
