Arsenal face Liverpool on Saturday in a game that could go a long way towards deciding who wins the Premier League title.

With reigning champions Manchester City having won just one of their last six league games, the Reds and the Gunners – as well as third-placed Aston Villa – have moved ahead of the Citizens.

A win for either Arsenal or Liverpool would see them top the table at Christmas, while a draw at Anfield could allow the Villans to do so if they beat Sheffield United on Friday.

When the transfer window reopens in January, Arteta could move to bolster his squad ahead of a demanding second half of the season.

It appears, though, that the North London club will also block one of their current players from departing.

According to Football Insider, the Gunners will prevent goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from leaving The Emirates, despite his recent lack of playing time.

Ramsdale is unlikely to leave Arsenal next month

The England international joined Arsenal from Sheffield United back in 2021 and initially played an integral role for Arteta’s side.

The 25-year-old has fallen out of favour since the arrival of fellow ‘keeper David Raya from Brentford over the summer, though, and has since been heavily linked with a move away from North London.

Raya joined on loan from the Bees in a deal that includes the option to make the move permanent.

Despite his arrival, the report claims that Arsenal will block Ramsdale from leaving the club next month.

Rivals Chelsea are one of a number of sides linked with a move for the Englishman, who has made a total of 87 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions.
