Arsenal host Premier League leaders Liverpool in an intriguing clash on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners’ title charge was dealt a major blow last weekend as Mikel Arteta’s side slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Bournemouth.

That result leaves Arsenal four points behind the Reds, although victory at The Emirates on Sunday would put them right back in contention for the title in the early stages of the season.

Having finished as runners-up to rivals Manchester City in each of the past two seasons, Arteta will be desperate to see his side go one better this time around.

With that in mind, it appears that Arsenal are on the hunt for a new striker and could look to bolster their squad in January.

According to CaughtOffside, the North London side are likely to bring forward their plans to sign a new striker.

Vlahovic could be made available in January

It is claimed that Arsenal had been willing to wait and try to sign RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Seiko next summer, but they could now instead move for Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic in January.

The Serbian’s contract is set to expire in 2026 and he is yet to have made progress in talks over a new deal.

That could prompt the Italian side to sell the 24-year-old during the upcoming January window, and Arsenal could therefore look to sign him.

Vlahovic has scored an impressive 48 goals in 110 games for Juventus since arriving in Turin in 2022.

The Serbia international would reportedly cost around £50 million, which could then help Juventus to fund a move for Leipzig’s Sesko, who is also a target for the Gunners.

Arsenal sold striker Eddie Nketiah to London rivals Crystal Palace over the summer, and Brazilian Gabriel Jesus has been out of form for some time now.

Kai Havertz has impressed in the early stages of the campaign, scorings times.
