Arsenal have been reportedly told to stump up £20m if they want to sign Kenya international Victor Wanyama this month.

The Premier League club, who top the table by two points following their 1-0 win over Newcastle United at the weekend, have been long-term admirers of the Southampton midfielder.

The 24-year-old, who has 35 international caps for his country, has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Ronald Koeman’s Saints so far this season.

Wanyama, who cost Southampton a reported £12.5m back in July 2013 from Celtic, is wanted by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger to ease their injury woes following setbacks to fellow midfielders Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin.
