Arsenal host Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates knowing only a win will keep their hopes of qualifying for the last-16 alive.
The Gunners are third in Group F, six points behind Olympiacos and Bayern Munich with just two games remaining, meaning they are in real danger of missing out on the knockout stages for the first time since the 2002/03 season.
Following a defeat to West Brom on Saturday and a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich in their last European outing, Arsene Wenger’s side will be looking to record back-to-back home wins in the competition for the first time since 2012 against the team which set the tone for the Gunners in this season’s campaign.
In what looked to be a group which favoured Arsenal to go through with Bayern, the Premier League outfit got off to the worst possible start with a surprise 2-1 defeat in Zagreb in the opening game.
The Croats have not picked up a single point since that famous victory in September and are also on three points, but their task looks even more impossible as they have to hope Bayern lose at home to Olympiacos before beating the German giants by more than five goals in the final match.
Zoran Mamic’s side have also failed to win any of their last 11 away games in the Champions League, failing to find the net in eight of those.
Aaron Ramsey could return after a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury but Francis Coquelin is out for two months.
Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky are also out.
The visitors will be without midfielder Arijan Ademi, who was controversially given a four-year ban by Uefa for failing a drugs test.
