Eight points behind the leaders Leicester City with nine matches of the season left, Arsenal may feel that their chances of winning the Premier League title are fading.

However, with the two teams above them, Spurs and the Foxes, having very little experience of being in this position so close to the end of the campaign, the Gunners certainly won’t be throwing the towel in yet.

And they may need striker Olivier Giroud to start finding the net again if they are to make a late charge, with the Frenchman having 12 goals to his name so far this term.

That is five more than his nearest competitor, Alexis Sanchez, and barring a prolific run of form from the Chilean, Giroud is likely to finish the season as the club’s top goalscorer in the top flight.
