Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is to sign a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich, according to the Independent.

The 27-year-old is leaving the Emirates at the end of the season after the Gunners surprisingly withdrew their offer of a new deal.

Premier League clubs Liverpool and Chelsea both showed an interest in the Wales star but it is now thought that the Bundesliga champions have made a concrete move.

The German giants, who have won the league title six years on the bounce, feel that the playmaker is at the peak of his career and is a no-brainer on a free transfer.

Ramsey has scored 59 times in 343 appearances for Arsenal.

Following team-mate Mesut Ozil’s club-record £350,000 per week contract in January, it is thought Ramsey was after a wage in the region of £200,000 per week.

However, the Gunners have decided they want to invest that money into other areas of Unai Emery’s squad after a good start to the Spaniard’s reign.

Bayern are expected to make the ex-Cardiff City player a lower offer but a higher signing on fee to make up for it.

Ramsey, who joined the Emirates outfit in 2008, has won three FA Cups with the north London side.
