French defender Laurent Koscielny has been improving year after year at Arsenal, and is now one of the best centre-backs in the division.

He joined Arsenal in 2010 and there were question marks about his strength and suitability for the English game, but he has been the mainstay of the Gunners back four ever since his arrival.

Although he is still prone to the odd mistake, Koscielny is a dependable centre-back for Wenger, and the main issue in recent years has been finding him a reliable centre-half partner.

Per Mertesacker has done well for Arsenal but his career is entering its final years, but Wenger may have found a perfect replacement in German international Shkodran Mustafi.
