Nacho Monreal is a better defender than Kieran Gibbs, although you can’t help feel that Arsenal need to strengthen their left-back options sooner rather than later.

England international Gibbs had a chance in Monreal’s absence to stake a claim for a first team spot, but struggled against Ludogorets the other week, and didn’t do anything worthy enough to keep his place.

Monreal provides Wenger with a better defensive option at left-back and, at the age of 30, he is still doing a good job in the Premier League.
