Mikel Arteta’s rebuild of Arsenal is in full flow as he is looking strengthen a team who missed out on European competition for the first time in 25 years.

It is a damning and unwelcoming statistic and not what Arteta would have wanted in his first full season as Arsenal manager.

While there were some positives, such as winning the Community Shield against Liverpool, doing the double over Chelsea, and reaching the Europa League semi-final, it was a season that could only be looked back upon with immense disappointment.

The most frustrating thing for the Gunners and for Arteta is the fact they have been their own worst enemy most of the season and have more or less beaten themselves.

Red cards and individual errors, especially in their own defence, has blighted their season and they will take to the transfer window to alleviate those weaknesses.

According to Sky Sports one player who has been identified to solve these issues is Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White.

White can play at many different positions in defence and midfield.

White’s defensive performances earned him a surprise call up to Gareth Southgate’s final Euro 2020 squad as the 23-year-old came in to replace the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The former Leeds United defender is very versatile and can play either as a central defender, a full-back and even as a central midfielder.

Arteta has several weaknesses to fix with not an awful lot of money to fix them with, therefore a player of White’s versatility and quality could be a solution for many different issues.

Unfortunately for the North Londoners, Brighton will not part with one of their most prized assets easily and it is reported they have already rejected a £40 million bid for White.

With the England star currently at the Euros, it is unlikely any potential deal will be sorted before the end of the tournament.
