It may have not been the result he would have liked coming up against a number of his Premier League rivals on Saturday night, but Mesut Ozil did come out of the 3-2 loss to England in Berlin with some credit.

The Arsenal playmaker, who has enjoyed an excellent personal season in the Premier League, with 18 assists, set up Toni Kroos for the opening goal against the Three Lions, before things turned in the second half for Germany.

The reigning world champions were certainly more impressive in their second international friendly over the Easter weekend, beating Italy 4-1 – the first time they had won against the Azzurri for 21 years.

Ozil scored his nation’s fourth from the spot, and Joachim Low’s side will be looking forward to trying to win their second successive major tournament in France this summer.
