Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made contact with Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic to gauge his interest in a move to The Emirates, according to reports from The Sun.

The 26-year-old has racked up six goals and eight assists for the Italian champions this term, with The Old Lady current four points clear at the top of the division.

Wenger could be considering the Bosnia and Herzegovina international as a long term replacement for Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla, who is currently sidelined until at least February with a calf injury.

The former Malaga man is yet to renew his contract, which runs out at the end of the season, at The Emirates and whilst he is expected to be handed a year’s extension, the 32-year-old will need replacing sooner rather than later.

According to The Sun’s report, the midfielder is keen on a move to the Gunners, and is working towards a verbal agreement with Wenger, which could result in a bid of £28m.
