With Nacho Monreal into his 30s and Kieran Gibbs seemingly out-of-favour at the Emirates, Wenger may see January as a chance to bring in a long-term full-back.

The Gunners, and indeed league leaders Manchester City, have been linked with Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, who has impressed ever since breaking into the Bhoys’ first team last season.

He could even do a job for Arsenal now, such is the way he adapted to being number one left-back at Celtic Park.

Wenger has reportedly been tracking him for 18 months, and may want to improve that area of the pitch ahead of Pep Guardiola’s City by sealing a deal in January.
