Manchester United’s pursuit of a place in the Champions League next season was dealt a blow as they fell to defeat against West Ham United on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s side were beaten 1-0 by the Hammers at The London Stadium, leaving them just a point ahead of fifth-place Liverpool although they do have a game in hand on the Reds.

United need three wins from their final four league matches to secure their place in the top four, and they will be hoping to pick up three points when they host Wolves at Old Trafford on Saturday.

In the meantime, the Manchester side have learned how much one of their transfer targets could cost.

As reported by 90min, Italian side Napoli could reluctantly allow defender Kim Min-jae to leave the club this summer.

The report claims that the centre-back, who is said to be a target for United and Liverpool, could be sold if a suitable offer is made.

Kim could be allowed to leave Napoli for the right price this summer

The Serie A side have previously insisted that the South Korea international is not for sale, but the report suggests that they could struggle to reject offers in excess of £52 million.

Kim joined Napoli from Turkish side Fenerbahce last summer and has had a huge impact during his first season in Naples.

The centre-back has made 43 appearances across all competitions including 33 in the Italian top flight, helping Napoli to lift the Serie A title for the first time in more than 30 years.

It is also claimed that Napoli are still trying to tie the 26-year-old down to a new contract, despite his current one running until 2025.

His current deal is believed to include a release clause – set at around £39 million – that will be active for the first two weeks of the upcoming summer transfer window.

United are set to be in the market for a new central defender this summer with the future of Harry Maguire still uncertain, and the report claims that the Manchester club had representatives in attendance for Napoli’s 1-0 victory over Fiorentina on Sunday.
