Aston Villa have been busy in the final days of the transfer window, completing the signings of both Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio.

The Villans have bolstered Unai Emery’s squad with the arrivals of the two attackers on loan, from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

It appears, though, that Villa are not finished yet when it comes to new singings.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Midlands club have agreed a deal to sign defender Axel Disasi from Chelsea.

The Italian journalist claims that the Frenchman will spend the remainder of the current campaign on loan at Villa Park, with his new club covering the players salary for the duration of his time there.

Disasi, 26, has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge throughout the current window having fallen out of favour since Enzo Maresca’s arrival as head coach last summer.

Disasi is set to join Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the current campaign

The centre-back had also been the subject of an offer from Tottenham Hotspur, but Romano claims that the player himself rejected a move to the Lilywhites as he was intent on joining Emery’s squad.

Villa are said to have matched Spurs’ offer for the player, Romano claims, but the deal won’t include an option or obligation-to-buy clause.

Disasi joined the Blues from Ligue 1 side Monaco in 2023 and made 44 appearances across all competitions during his first season in England.

He has fallen down the pecking order this term, though, and has featured in just 17 games so far, starting just four Premier League games.

Despite falling out of favour under Maresca, Disasi has captained Chelsea on several occasions in the Europa Conference League.

he is under contract with the club until the end of the 2028/29 season, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will return to Chelsea this summer or move elsewhere permanently.
