Both Aston Villa and Everton have been mentioned as potential challengers to qualify for Europe this term.

With seventh position securing a spot in Europa League qualifying for next term, both still have a shot at taking part in continental competition.

It seems that, wherever the Villans and Toffees end up, that both are already planning for the 2021/22 campaign as they look to improve their squads.

Accoriding to footmercato, the Premier League duo are interested in securing the services of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumaré.

Soumaré and Lille are closing in on the Ligue 1 title.

The 22-year-old has played an important role in helping the French side close in on their first Ligue 1 title in 10 years, appearing in 30 league matches.

It’s claimed that Villa and Everton have made enquiries about the Frenchman, but that it’s actually Leicester City, who are in the fight to finish in the top-four, are currently leading the race.

A defensive midfielder, Soumaré, would add solidity in the middle of the park, something it seems that Dean Smith and Carlo Ancelotti want a bit more of.

The former Paris Saint-Germain youth player has also been linked with Wolves, so Villa and Everton may have to put in an offer sooner rather than later if they are to be in with a shot of signing Soumaré.
