Liverpool have been one of the quieter of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ this summer, with Ibrahima Konate the only signing of note so far, and any further arrivals at Anfield unlikely in the final hours of the window.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had been linked with a number of midfielders following the departure of Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer, but a move is yet to materialise.

Instead, it appears that one of Klopp’s current crop of midfielders could follow Wijnaldum out of Anfield.

According to The Sun, Aston Villa are keen on Curtis Jones, and are set to make an offer for the midfielder.

The report suggests that the 20-year-old, who is currently under contract until 2025, is set to be the subject of a £15 million bid from the Villans, whose huge summer spending is showing no sign of stopping.

Villa boss Dean Smith is an admirer of the player, and is keen to add him to his current midfield options.

Jones has not featured for Liverpool since the end of last season and has attracted interest from Villa.

Jones had pushed his way into Klopp’s first team setup last term, featuring 24 times in the Premier League and a further 10 times across European and domestic cup competitions.

This term, however, the midfielder has struggled for opportunities and us yet to feature for Klopp’s side.

While Liverpool have no interest in selling Jones and the player wishes to stay, Villa believe that an offer for the player could unsettle the Reds and potentially persuade them into letting Jones go.

The youngster has made 47 appearances for his boyhood club in total, scoring seven times.

However, he seems to be behind the likes go Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and James Milner in the pecking order at Anfield.
