Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Venezuela international striker Christian Santos, according to De Gelderlander.

The Premier League side, who remain rock-bottom of the table despite defeating Crystal Palace 1-0 in midweek, are understood to have joined Championship clubs Brentford and Hull City in the hunt to snap up the N.E.C Nijmegen ace this month.

The 27-year-old, who has four international caps for his country, has scored an impressive 13 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions for the Eredivisie outfit this season.

Santos; who partners West Brom forward Salomon Rondon for Venezuela, is out of contract in the summer, meaning Nijmegen could be forced to sell their star striker this month to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
