Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Ivory Coast international striker Jonathan Kodjia this summer, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The Championship side, who finished rock-bottom of the Premier League standings last term, have been linked with a move for the Bristol City forward ahead of the forthcoming 2016/17 campaign.

The 26-year-old, who has two international caps for his country, scored 19 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions for the Robins last season.

Kodjia, who made his Ivory Coast debut against Hungary back in May before netting his first international goal against Gabon in the following outing, is interesting Villans boss Roberto Di Matteo after his impressive debut season at Ashton Gate.

The French-born striker only joined Bristol City last July following a £2m switch from Ligue 1 side Angers, signing a three-year deal with Lee Johnson’s men.

The report suggests that Kodjia’s services could set back Villa around £6.5m this transfer window.
