Aston Villa are reportedly ready to stump up £8m for Championship ace Charlie Austin in January.
The Premier League outfit, who remain rock-bottom in the current standings after drawing 1-1 with Newcastle United on Boxing Day, want the Queens Park Rangers striker to fire them to safety come the end of the season.
The 26-year-old, who is out of contract next summer, has scored nine goals in 16 league games for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side so far this campaign in the Championship.
Austin; who was called up to the England senior squad back in May, scored an impressive 18 Premier League goals for the Hoops last term during his debut spell in the English top-flight.
However Remi Garde’s Villa face stiff competition in the form of Premier League rivals AFC Bournemouth, Newcastle, Sunderland and West Brom, who have all also shown an interest in the QPR hitman this New Year.
