This could be Chelsea’s most fascinating season of the Roman Abramovich era.

Seventeen major honours have entered the Stamford Bridge trophy cabinet since the Russian bought the West Londoners in 2003.

While many of the club’s major trophies have been with a group of players entering or coming out of their peak years, Thomas Tuchel’s current reigning European Champions are very early into their careers.

The likes of Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Christian Pulisic and many others are still in their early 20s, while the more experienced players such as N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Antonio Rudiger, and Edouard Mendy are in the best stage of their careers.

There is plenty of room for manoeuvre and development in the majority of the players, which should be a frightening prospect for the rest of Europe.

However, another youngster in Tammy Abraham looks set to leave the club and, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Atalanta could be the next club to try to sign the striker.

Abraham contributed with 12 goals and six assists last season.

Abraham has been linked with the likes of West Ham United and Aston Villa, but with the latter sealing the signing of Danny Ings from Southampton, the Englishman’s options have decreased.

It is understood Atalanta, who finished third in Serie A last season, could be holding talks with the Blues this weekend.

They could also be a very attractive prospect for the 23-year-old as they will be able to offer him Champions League football in the upcoming season.

This would be key with Abraham looking to get himself back into England contention ahead of the winter 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
