Barcelona are reportedly attempting to re-sign forward Alexis Sanchez from Inter Milan.

The Chile international won six trophies and played 141 matches in three years with the Catalan giants before signing for Arsenal in 2014.

Sanchez then lit up the Premier League at the Emirates, scoring 80 goals in 166 appearances for the Gunners.

But since moving to Manchester United in January 2018, the South American has struggled to hit the heights he did in Spain and North London.

After scoring just five times in 45 matches for the Red Devils, Sanchez moved to Inter Milan on an initial loan deal which was made permanent in 2020.

But, after having made just two starts for the San Siro side this term, Spanish publication Sport report that the attacker could be set for a return to Barcelona.

Sanchez has scored 13 goals in 84 Inter matches.

It’s claimed that Inter would be open to a swap deal involving Sanchez and Luuk de Jong.

However Sevilla, who currently have the Dutch striker on loan, would have to agree for the deal to go through.

Sanchez, who has appeared in more matches for his country than in Serie A this term, played alongside current Barca boss Xavi in his successful spell with the club.

Despite having been in charge for a month, Xavi already has a track-record of signing former teammates having brought Dani Alves, 38, back to the club.
