Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte, according to reports.

The centre-back has been a key player in City’s title charge this term, starting 16 of 20 Premier League matches, after regaining his spot from John Stones in the starting XI.

His partnership with Ruben Dias has resulted in Pep Guardiola’s side having the best defensive record and sitting eight points clear at the top of the table.

However, according to The Sun, Barcelona are eyeing up a summer swoop for the 27-year-0ld once they’re able to get their hands on more funds.

Laporte in City’s recent win at Newcastle.

It’s claimed that the Catalan giants want to sign Laporte and reunite him with Eric Garcia and Ferran Torres, who they signed from the Etihad club in June and December respectively.

Laporte, who switched international allegiance from France to Spain in May, has a contract with the champions of England until 2025 so it’s thought that City would want at least the £57m they paid Athletic Bilbao for his signature in January 2018.

The Spain international has won three Premier League titles, three EFL Cups, one FA Cup and was named in the 2018/19 PFA Team of the Year in his near-four spell in Manchester.
