Manchester City will host high-flying Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday as they look to return to winning ways.

Pep Guardiola’s side have lost their last two Premier games, which has seen them tumble to third place in the table.

The two defeats included a 1-0 loss against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side at the Emirates last time out.

Despite falling to third place, the Citizens remain only two points from the top of the table.

However, City will face a tough challenge when they welcome the Seagulls, as Brighton currently sits in sixth after an impressive start to the campaign.

Whilst Guardiola’s side will be battling on the pitch to ensure they return to winning ways, the treble winners could have to fight off the pitch to keep hold of one of their strikers.

According to SPORT, Barcelona are interested in signing City striker Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez has made an impressive start to the Premier League campaign

The report claims that the Catalan giants are seeking cover for forward Robert Lewandowski and have turned their attention towards the Argentinian.

Alvarez, 23, joined the Manchester Outfit from Argentinian giants River Plate in the summer of 2022.

The forward has made a bright start to the current season, scoring six goals and providing five assists in 13 appearances across all competitions.

Since joining the Sky Blues, the forward has made 62 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals and notching ten assists.

The Argentinian has also secured 26 senior caps for his country whilst scoring seven goals.

He also played a crucial role in helping the Citizens win the treble last term, and signed a contract extension in March, which ties him to the club until 2028.

This suggests that Manchester City will likely want a sizeable fee from Barcelona if they are to allow the player to leave.
