Bayern Munich have joined the race for Romelu Lukaku.

According to a report in the Manchester Evening News the German giants are preparing to put together a bid for the Everton striker.

Lukaku has refused to sign a contract extension with Everton putting a £100m price tag on his head.

The fee has kept Manchester United and Chelsea at bay but the arrival of Bayern could step up activity around the striker.

With two years left on his contract this transfer window is crucial with Everton having to decide to accept an offer or try to hold out for a £100m bid coming in next summer.

Ronald Koeman has been supportive of Lukaku throughout the contract saga and would rather retain the striker than try to find a replacement even if he gets a £100m transfer boost.

Everton paid Chelsea £28m for Lukaku in 2014 after a successful season on loan at Goodison.
