Liverpool will start next season with a new manager at the helm following the appointment of Andoni Iraola.

The Reds confirmed the Spaniard as their new boss on Thursday, less than a week after sacking Arne Slot.

The Dutchman had guided the Merseyside outfit to the Premier League title in his first season in charge, but they failed to defend their crown and ultimately finished fifth this time around.

In the wake of Iraola’s appointment, it has emerged that one of Liverpool’s most promising young players has been in discussions with a European giant.

As per Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have been in talks with Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha in recent weeks and have even reached a full verbal agreement with the player.

The journalist claims that the German champions had identified the 17-year-old as an alternative target to Anthony Gordon as they hunt for a winger to provide competition for Luis Diaz on. the left of their attack.

Despite reaching an agreement with the teenager, Plettenberg claims that the proposed deal collapsed on Thursday.

Ngumoha became the youngest goal scorer in Liverpool’s history when he netted the winner in a thrilling 3-2 win over Newcastle United in August, at the age of 16.

He has now played 30 times for the Reds across all competitions at senior level, scoring twice.

Interestingly, Plettenberg claims that Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany approved the club’s pursuit of Ngumoha after personal discussions with the teenager.

Ngumoha is capable of operating on either flank but primarily p;lays on the left, which would make him a suitable candidate to act as backup for Diaz in Bayern’s star-studded attack.

The youngster is currently contracted to Liverpool until the end of the 2027/28 season.
