Manchester United have completed their first signing of the summer with midfielder Andrey Santos arriving from rivals Chelsea.

The Red Devils signed Santos on Monday, with the Brazil international signing a long-term deal at Old Trafford.

Manager Michael Carrick oversaw huge improvement in his side when he took charge at the start of the year, guiding United to a third-placed finish in the Premier League.

The Englishman will want to see his side continue that impressive form when the new season starts, and it appears that the Manchester club are now closing in on another signing to bolster Carrick’s squad.

As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans is set to undergo a medical ahead of a proposed move to Manchester United.

The report claims that the Belgian is on his way to Manchester to undergo the first part of his medical, with United working quickly to finalise a move for the player.

Romano claims that United have activated the £35 million release clause in Tielemans’ current contract with Aston Villa, which is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Tielemans has made more than 130 appearances for Villa since joining the club from Leicester City back in 2023.

The midfielder has scored ten goals and provided 25 assists during that time, as well as helping the Villans to win the Europa League at the end of last season.

At the World Cup this summer, the 29-year-old scored twice as Belgium staged a stunning late comeback to defeat Senegal in the last 32, before they eventually exited the competition at the hands of Spain in the quarter-finals.

Romano claims that Tielemans has already agreed a long-term contract with Manchester United, with the player regarding a switch to Old Trafford as something of a ‘dream move’.
