Birmingham interested in ex-Aston Villa ace

Birmingham City reportedly lead the chase to sign Leyton Orient’s Shane Lowry.

It is understood that the Championship outfit are in pole position to land the former Aston Villa defender on a free transfer this summer, although League One side Wigan Athletic have also expressed an interest.

The 26-year-old, who joined the O’s from Millwall only last summer, made 40 appearances in all competitions for Orient as the club suffered relegation into League Two.

However; Lowry is now free to leave Brisbane Road due to a clause in his contract following their dip into the English bottom tier, with a number of Championship and League One sides taking note.
