Bolton Lads & Girls Club are to celebrate the official opening of their new £1.8m facilities on Tuesday.
The club received a £400,000 grant from the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund towards the project, which will boost sports participation in the local area.
The club worked in partnership with the Lancashire County FA to secure the grant, which has enabled them to build a new floodlit third generation (3G) artificial grass pitch (AGP) and a new state-of-the-art clubhouse.
Since 2000, the Football Foundation Funding Partners’ investment has provided 727 grants worth £18.2m towards grassroots sports projects worth over £57.9m across the whole of Lancashire.
Founded in 2000 the Football Foundation is the largest sports charity in the UK funded by the Premier League, The FA and Government, via Sport England. It funds the development of new and refurbished grassroots sports facilities in order to improve the quality and experience of playing sport at the grassroots level.
Since it was launched in 2000, the Foundation has awarded around 14,000 grants worth more than £550m towards improving grassroots sport, which it has used to attract additional partnership funding of over £786m – over £1.3bn of investment into the grassroots game.
