Middlesbrough have reportedly lodged an offer for Hellas Verona goalkeeper Rafael.

The Championship outfit, who drew 0-0 against Preston North End earlier today, have offered in the region of €1 million for the veteran shot stopper.

Rafael, 33, produced six cleans sheets in 22 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A side last season.

However Aitor Karanka’s side will face an uphill battle to get there man considering the Brazil ‘keeper has been with Hellas since 2007, helping the club win promotions from the Lega Pro Division, to Serie B and then the Italian top flight.
