Chelsea will hope to return to winning ways when they host London rivals West Ham United on Monday evening.

The Blues have been in poor form since Christmas, winning just one of six Premier League matches since Boxing Day.

That has seen Enzo Maresca’s side drop from second place to sixth in the top flight table, and the Italian will be desperate to see his side emerge victorious against the Hammers on Monday.

In the build up to the game, it appears that one of Chelsea’s fringe players is on his way out of the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, German giants Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement to sign Blues midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Englishman has been almost completely frozen out of the first team setup since Maresca’s arrival last summer, making just five appearances across all competitions and failing to play a single minute in the Premier League this term.

Chukwuemeka is set to join Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season

Romano claims that the Englishman will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Dortmund, with the deal also including an option-to-buy clause that will be set higher than the player’s current £40 million release clause.

He also claims that the Bundesliga side will cover the player’s salary in full for the entirety of his time at the club, as well as paying a loan fee to Chelsea.

Chukwuemeka, who joined the Blues from Aston Villa in 2022, is set to undergo a medical on Monday ahead of his proposed move to Germany.

Since swapping Villa Park for Stamford Bridge, the central midfielder has made a total of 32 appearances for the West London outfit, scoring twice and providing one assist.

The midfielder’s contract with the Blues is set to run until 2028, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will play for the club again.
