AFC Bournemouth are reportedly mulling over a surprise swoop for former non-league star Marvin Johnson, according to the Daily Mail.

The newly promoted Premier League side, who currently hover just three points above the relegation zone, have been heavily linked with a £400,000 bid for the Motherwell winger this month.

The 25-year-old, who started his career with Solihull Moors, has scored three goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish Premiership outfit this season.

Johnson, who arrived at Fir Park from National League side Kidderminster Harriers back in February 2015, has been identified as the Cherries alternative target to Queens Park Rangers’ £7m-rated forward Matt Phillips.
