Manchester United will look to keep alive their slim chance of finishing in the top four when they face Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Red Devils currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, 11 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, and therefore look almost certain to miss out on a place in next season’s Champions League.

Here, we predict the XI that Erik ten Hag may select for the trip to the south coast to face the Cherries.

Goalkeeper

Andre Onana made an underwhelming start to life in Manchester and was at fault for a number of mistakes early on this season. He has since improved, though, and will remain between the sticks for the game on Saturday.

Defenders

At right-back, Diogo Dalot is set to make his 14th consecutive Premier League star. The Portuguese has impressed this season, and is in line to start against the Cherries.

In the centre of defence, Harry Maguire could be partnered by youngster Willy Kambwala. The former is set to make his 20th Premier League appearance of the season, while 19-year-old Kambwala could be in line for just his third start in the competition.

Maguire has been in good form of late

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez remain unavailable due to injury.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could once again be used as a makeshift left-back, rather than in his more natural position on the right of the back line. The former Crystal Palace man gave away a clumsy penalty against Liverpool last time out, but has otherwise been impressive in recent weeks.

Midfielders

Veteran midfielder Casemiro looks set to keep his place in the starting line up, having made his 75th appearance for United last time out against Liverpool.

Casemiro is in line to start against Bournemouth

The Brazilian will likely be joined in midfield by youngster Kobbie Mainoo, who is enjoying an outstanding breakthrough season at Old Trafford and netted a stunning goal against Liverpool last weekend.

Club captain Bruno Fernandes will be deployed in the advanced midfield role, and will be looking for his 75th goal for the club. The Portuguese also scored last weekend, drawing the Red Devils level with a stunning long range lob over goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Forwards

Marcus Rashford is a doubt for the trip to the south coast, meaning that Alejandro Garnacho will most likely start on the left. The Argentinian has enjoyed a fine individual campaign, and will hope to continue his good form on Saturday.

Garnacho has impressed so far this season

Rasmus Hojlund is set to start through the middle, and will be hoping to add to his total of seven league goals so far this term.

Antony is set to start on the left, and will be hoping to score his first league goal of the season.

Predicted Man United XI: Onana; Dalot, Maguire, Kambwala, Wan-Bissaka; Casemiro, Mainoo, Fernandes; Antony, Hojlund, Garnacho.
