Former Chelsea scout Lee Congerton could be on his way to Parkhead next week as Head of Player Recruitment, but the Celtic board have been told they will have to wait for his final decision as the sought-after coach weighs up his options, according to the latest reports in the Daily Mail.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is believed to be a big fan of Congerton from their time together at Stamford Bridge and is keen to bring him to Glasgow to help identify and attract some of the players viewed as pivotal in helping the Hoops have a better crack at Europe next season.

Congerton, who has been a sporting director at Sunderland and Hamburger SV, is thought to have been offered a megabucks deal to join a club in China.

But Celtic are keen to get someone in a soon as possible to replace John Park after his 10-year stint as Football Development Manager ended in October.
