Steve Bruce is confident of bringing in two or three new faces to boost Aston Villa’s play-off hopes.
According to a report in the Express & Star Bruce is closing in on signing Barnsley duo Conor Hourihane and James Bree with one more deal expected before the transfer window closes.
Almost certainly Bruce will be looking to bring in a striker with revelations about Ross McCormack’s discipline issues highlighting the need for new firepower.
Jordan Rhodes was the man that Villa wanted but after being rejected for a loan deal it seems that Middlesbrough have priced the Scotland internationalist out of a return to the Championship.
Burnley’s Ashley Barnes has also been linked with a move to Villa but is in a similar situation as Rhodes with Burnley reluctant to let a back-up striker move when a couple of goals could make the difference between a return to the Championship or Premier League survival.
